The Physiology of Stretching (4) hours: This course focuses on the gross and micro anatomy of the neuromuscular system, proprioception, the stretch reflex, types of stretching, and advanced hands on applications.
Topics of learning will include:
- Neuromuscular system, gross anatomy and micro anatomy, relevance to manual therapy.
- Muscle contractions, proprioception, stretch reflex, target tissue, session goals.
- Differences between active, passive, ballistic, dynamic, and isometric stretching.
- Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, active isolated stretching, positional release technique.
