Physiologic Effects Of Water And Hydrotherapy (4) hours: This course emphasizes the importance of knowing the physiologic effects of water upon the human body, examining the short term and long term applications of hot and cold therapies. It is intended to give the massage therapist a stronger appreciation for its many uses and effectiveness as a therapeutic tool. Topics of learning will include:
- Understanding waters physical properties, chemistry of the human body, hydration, and electrolytes.
- The physiologic effects of temperature upon the human body, indications and contraindications.
- Therapeutic forms of cold applications, contrast applications, and contraindications.
- When hydrotherapy will be localized and reflexive; short and long term affects of hot and cold applications.
