Course Description

The Physiology of Stretching (4) CE Hours: CE Broker Course Number 20-406421. This course focuses on the gross and micro anatomy of the neuromuscular system, proprioception, the stretch reflex, types of stretching, and advanced hands on applications. This course is NCBTMB Approved.

Topics of learning will include:

  • Neuromuscular system, gross anatomy and micro anatomy, relevance to manual therapy.
  • Muscle contractions, proprioception, stretch reflex, target tissue, session goals.
  • Differences between active, passive, ballistic, dynamic, and isometric stretching.
  • Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, active isolated stretching, positional release technique.
