Course Description

Therapeutic relief for the shoulder complex (4) hours - This course emphasizes the anatomy & physiology of the shoulder complex, pathologies & conditions, client assessment, and the hands on techniques with correct sequence of and number of applications. This learning will demonstrate particular protocol, with benefits to the client.

There will be 4 hours of CE Learning (50 minutes each). They will include:

  • (50) Minute lesson on bones, bony landmarks, articulations, actions and degrees of movement of each articulation at upper extremity, other connective tissue (cartilage, labrum, bursa, synovial membranes, articular capsules, fascia, lymph nodes, and brachial plexus).
  • (50) Minute lesson on muscles and their actions, origins, insertions; agonist, antagonist, synergist relationship;
  • anatomical, physiological, pathological, active, passive range of motion; anatomical directional terminology.
  • (50) Minute lesson on Pathologies, Common signs & symptoms, Client intake and relevant medical information,
  • Understanding of assessment techniques, Identifying areas of endangerment & entrapment, Indications and contraindications, Documentation and SOAP notes.
  • (50) Minute lesson on Proper table height, body mechanics, draping, and lubricants/emollients used for session, treatment protocol for client, techniques used in treatment and their relevance, step by step instructions on proper combination & sequence of massage techniques, physiologic changes and textural differences of tissues.
